Water Wise Wednesdays

Did you know golf courses are some of the most efficient users of water in the valley? Several of your favorite local Golf Course Superintendents will present the impact golf course management has on the environment in our Valley. Topics you may never have thought about as you teed up your ball will be discussed, such as water conservation, water quality, technology trends, cultural practices and environmental stewardship. 

This Water Wise Wednesday will feature Chris Landry the Executive Director of the Center for Snow and Avalanche Studies (CSAS) in Silverton, CO.  If you remember the pink snow from last year then you have already experienced "dust on snow". Read a little about it below and learn a lot Wed. March 24th. 

Please join the Eagle River Watershed Council for a free-to-the-public Water Wise Wednesday presentation about Eagle County’s Hidden Gems - a presentation that will make you want to put on your hiking boots and head for the hills.  Come to the Avon Municipal Building Council Chambers on Wednesday, July 29, at 5:00 p.m. and we’ll share the secrets.

If you like to fish the Eagle River, raft the river, walk the riverbanks or just want to know the river flowing through this valley is in good shape, come to the Eagle River Watershed Council’s Water Wise Wednesday on March 25, at 5:00 pm (refreshments) or 5:30 pm (presentation) at the Avon Public Library to find out what is causing these troubled waters.

The Eagle River Watershed Council is proud to invite WaterWise Wednesday fans to a meeting about the Pine Beetle epidemic at Donovan Pavilion in Vail on Wednesday 10/25 from 5:00 – 7:00pm.

Locals and tourists alike take for granted the ability to hop in a raft or kayak and just take off, but there are big legal and practical questions about private property rights that some feel have never been fully resolved.

This Wednesday, October 12, historian and photographer Dick Stenzel will take us on a historic photo journey across the mountains of Colorado to the rivers and reservoirs that move water from one side of the divide to the other.

This month our focus is on water quality. Most people assume that here in the headwaters of the pristine Rocky Mountains, our water is safe. But we have to work to protect our water quality.
